Tastemakers and Trendsetters...

So in the aftermath of being more hung over than I’ve ever been in my life, without any drugs or alcohol. I have come to the conclusion that my body just loves consuming things that are bad for it. I gravitate towards some of the worst foods that I could eat, I used narcotics for a time in my life before I was sober and they nearly killed me. I don’t know, maybe I was testing out the water to see just how far I could go before I would drown.
When I began to restrain myself and give up the poison that sugar is, I had no idea that it would open my mind to so many questions that I am sure haunt many of us on a daily. Like what causes us to torture ourselves. When we know that something could possibly kill us , we ignore it and keep on swimming. Why don’t we have the intuition that birds and animals do, that are allowed not even half the brain power we have, but decide that it’s not such a good idea to go into a dangerous place.
It’s all will... or to determine by an act of choice. Which is the problem. We have the will, but make the wrong choice, primarily because we are programmed to do so every day.
According to David Reisman , one of the authors of “The Lonely Crowd”(a book I had to read for my sophomore sociology class) His view was that “people went from being ‘inner-directed’ to ‘outer-directed,’ from heeding their own instincts and judgment to depending on the judgments and opinions of tastemakers and trendsetters.”
Which in lies our problem. Having the constant fixation of what others see in is instead of how we truly feel about ourselves, how or if we even take the time to really listen to our bodies. I tell my clients on a regular basis while I teach, to listen to what their body is saying. Is it screaming at you, if so back off of it. I mean c’mon how is your temple supposed to stay upright if you are consistently attacking it’s foundation. I have news it’s not.
Which is why I am here. Figuring this crazy shit out so others can find an easy way to allow themselves to thrive.
We are on day 9, I feel better than yesterday, and clearer than ever before. I am confident in my goals and I have set realistic expectations to live with , which in turn will make it simple to achieve those goals.
We need armistice in our lives. The need to slow down and be quiet. I suggest using this time to connect to our heart chakra and restore our strength in love and self love. Absorbing all that we can for it can dissolve just as quick. Plan to use this calm to plan how we want to live. To stay balanced all year . Can we make sure we see our doctors, therapists, and most treasured friends this year? Can we drink water, eat good foods, and stretch our bodies? Be good to ourselves? This is just “food” (sugar-free) for thoughts.
Be well ♥️ Wonder
