Today it’s a balmy ninety-One degrees.
Here and Kentucky it’s really hit or miss depending on the level of humidity just has suffocating the areas, and how suffocating it can be..Currently I’m going back to my roots, I’m reaching into my mind to remember what made me who I was when I was younger. The things that built me before I knew how to be manipulated by others, it only came to my recollection recently just how allowed other people to control my life.
however if his much as happened to me in the past 40 years, I can only imagine what it’s like for people like my grandmother who have witnessed such differences in attitudes, rules, regulations and just day-to-day. I feel like I take a lot of it for granted so that’s why I am attempting to recollect what help me develop my version, for lack of a better word, societal norms. There’s a really great book that was written in the 1950s called The Lo’s ely Crowd” by avid Riesman, I got super into reading those type of books my sophomore year in college. Anyway, I watched a movie called “gentlemen prefer blondes“. It’s stars Jane Russell, the beautiful woman you see in the picture at the beginning of this blog, and another favorite of mine Marilyn Monroe.
As I began to watch the movie I knew it still by heart I’ve seen it so many times, I’ve always love the old school movies I was raised with them my father loves them just like my grandmother dies. I used to know gone with the wind by heart to, however I fell away from that one a lot more than I did Marilyn Monroe’s movies. The whole premise of this movie is absolutely chauvinist, bigoted, and no one in their right mind would make a movie like this today. It genuinely amazes me how anti-feminist and sexist this movie is, even the women are sexist towards themselves. The really strange thing is is that I love this movie, I love Jane Russell and she was like the “ Pro life queen“. She could never have children because of a botched abortion, which I totally understand 100%. But I’m not pro life, I believe that everyone should have the freedom of choice but that’s another log.
I watched a movie once already today, and now I’m in the process of watching it again I’m not offended by it whatsoever. I chalk it up to the fact that there’s a lot of sexism and movies that we watched still today it’s just seems like we except it because it’s different and more glamorized. This is just a different type of glamour, it also makes me realize how homosexual I am, which kind of gave me a boost this afternoon. I still get really proud of being gay now that I’m out, it only took me 35 years, I feel more real than I ever have in my life. It’s amazing how just one thing in your life can make it so comfortable for everything else to be that honest and true.
I might come back with more later on but that’s all I have right now I hope anyone who reads this and everyone who doesn’t have an absolutely amazing day.
